Lead Data Engineer

Employment Type: Full-time Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Location Type: Remote (occasional travel to Humana offices may be required for training or meetings)

Position Overview

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first. The Lead Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains data processing architectures and solutions enabling the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data to insights at enterprise scale. The Lead Data Engineer works on problems of diverse scope and complexity, ranging from moderate to substantial.

The Lead Data Engineer ingests data from internal and external sources utilizing cloud-native platforms and software development best practices and patterns. Develops software tools that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize, and transform data into insights and actions that enable Humana to better serve our members. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision. Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement opportunities for technology improvements and innovation.
  • Provide technical direction on team projects, including but not limited to upgrades, disaster recovery, high availability, data integrity, or new features/capabilities.
  • Create and maintain database standards, engineering patterns, and strategy.
  • Complete technology roadmaps and reviews.
  • Drive problem definition and resolution on bridge calls with multiple IT and business partners.
  • Solve technical issues and provide technical support to staff as required.
  • Lead technical projects and provide technical direction to meet internal needs.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with database security best practices, encryption, and compliance standards.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $129,300 - $177,800 per year

  • This compensation range reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location, and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
  • This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan, based upon company and/or individual performance.
