Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and have at least 7 years of experience in data engineering, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated experience with cloud-based data platforms, particularly AWS, is essential, along with proficiency in SQL and experience with data warehousing technologies such as Redshift and Snowflake. Strong knowledge of ETL processes, data modeling, and data pipeline development is required, as well as experience with modern data tools like DBT, Segment, and Avo.

Responsibilities

As the Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the long-term Data Platform Strategy, providing technical leadership to the Data Engineering team, and overseeing recent projects such as data warehouse cluster upgrades, per-query infra cost optimization, implementation of Apache Iceberg data storage, and evaluating alternative data warehouse technologies. You will also work closely with other engineers, data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to build and deploy scalable data solutions, understand their data needs, and deliver high-performance, reliable data systems to support critical business functions across Philo’s streaming services.
