Requirements

Candidates should possess a Master’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Social or Applied Sciences, or a related field, along with 5-8 years of relevant experience in AI ethics, AI research, Security, Trust & Safety, or similar roles. Expertise in alignment, adversarial robustness, interpretability/explainability, or fairness in generative AI is required, as is experience researching responsible generative AI challenges and risk mitigations.

Responsibilities

The Lead Applied Research Scientist - Responsible AI will develop strategy alongside Salesforce AI Research, engineering, data science, and product management to create, develop, and ship cutting-edge generative AI capabilities for Salesforce customers while mitigating ethical risks and capturing ethical opportunities. They will identify potential negative consequences and develop solutions to mitigate them, as well as identify positive ethical impacts and ways to amplify them in products. The role involves developing solutions for real-world, large-scale problems, leading teams to deliver on complex research projects, and working across teams to implement responsible AI processes including bias assessments, accuracy measurements, harms modeling, privacy (memorization, unlearning), security, and AI model trust and safety. Additionally, they will trust and safety, CRM benchmarking, and working with other models and versions of the same model.
