The Economic Research (ER) team is focused on improving Nasdaq’s insights of trading data and supporting a variety of initiatives, including regulatory reporting, customer analytics, and other research. The Engineer will sit within the ER team but will collaborate with a variety of other teams across the product and technology functions. The Engineer will work closely with our ER team to build out advanced analytics in a variety of financial assets and markets. They will gain deep domain expertise in financial markets and leverage their technical skills to deliver data models in support of internal and external initiatives. This will require designing and developing data models to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity throughout the data lifecycle. The engineer will design and implement ETL processes to integrate data from various sources and maintain documentation for the data models and ETL processes.

Requirements

  • Strong track record of working with dbt: Proficiency in using the dbt (data build tool) for data transformation.
  • Strong experience with Spark: Experience with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing.
  • Strong programming skills: Expertise in languages such as Python or Java.
  • Strong data modeling experience: Knowledge of data modeling techniques, including data vault and dimensional data modeling.
  • Familiarity with data governance tooling: Experience with tools like Monte Carlo or Atlan for data governance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex data-related issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and collaborate with team members.
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse, relational and columnar databases: Experience with databases like Redshift, Snowflake.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing data models to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity.
  • Implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from various sources.
  • Maintaining documentation for data models and ETL processes.
  • Working closely with the platform engineering team on requirements and needs for data pipeline execution.
  • Contributing to internal and external initiatives related to financial market analysis.
