Requirements

  • High School or GED Equivalent (Preferred Education)

  • Ability to work every other Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 am - 6:30 pm

Responsibilities

  • Organizes specimen collection requests
  • Performs patient clinical laboratory specimen collection procedures
  • Transports, processes (centrifuging, separating, measuring, storing), and distributes specimens to appropriate testing areas or for transport to reference laboratories
  • Completes patient registration, test order computer data entry, and pertinent sequel databases
  • Identifies and resolves routine specimen acceptability and test order problems for on-campus specimens; refers incomplete or non-routine problems to appropriate individuals
  • Interprets inpatient and outpatient test orders to determine appropriate collection time and specimen types
  • Performs selected point-of-care testing
  • Assists with analysis, collection, and maintenance of records as required by regulatory agencies and/or federal, state, or local law
  • Labels, transports, or stores collected specimens accurately and timely following Lean Principles and Standard Work Document
  • Maintains and distributes supplies and inventories
  • Promotes Avera’s values of compassion, hospitality, and stewardship
