Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Footwear Product Creation, Product Testing, Development, or a related field (or suitable combination of education, experience, and training)
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience in a manufacturing or research and development field (chemical, manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering)
  • Understanding of product fabrication, pattern engineering, tooling, material, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, sketches, and/or 3D digital files
  • Digital literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, database management, and proficiency with 2D/3D CAD/CAM tools or pattern engineering software (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 10%, as needed
  • Passion for athletic footwear with high performance and sustainable manufacturing standards
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced matrixed organization, multitask on multiple products, and work as a strong team player with an innovative mindset

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Design, Marketing, Innovation, and Product Creation teams to provide direction on material choices, design, and construction (Upper and Tooling), addressing potential manufacturing or costing concerns
  • Respond to requests from internal/external customers and assist in providing input and solutions at the functional level
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, perform engineering studies, and analyze process data to develop refined product specifications
  • Communicate and share project details and status with all stakeholders
  • Understand the product brief to deliver to the athlete’s needs and focus on product projects to meet performance, design, cost, and sustainability targets
  • Lead projects from an engineering point of view and support management of key footwear products or components within product creation and manufacturing teams
  • Apply critical thinking, analytical, innovative, and communication skills to solve problems from development through commercialization stages
  • Apply and promote Nike Engineering best practices
  • Provide critical feedback on projects to ensure product quality
