Knowledge of setting up and operating haemodialysis machines
Ability to attach dialyzer and tubing to machine and prime extracorporeal circuits with 0.9% normal saline
Skill in labeling dialyzer and blood lines with patient name and ID (excluding single use)
Capability to prepare dialysis solutions and mix bicarbonate according to formula
Ability to explain dialysis procedure and machine operation to patients
Proficiency in connecting haemodialysis machine to patient’s access site
Competence in monitoring haemodialysis machine for malfunctions
Ability to maintain log books, forms, and registers

Responsibilities

Set up and operate haemodialysis machine to provide dialysis treatment for patients with kidney failure
Attach dialyzer and tubing to machine and prime the extracorporeal circuits with 0.9% normal saline to prepare machine for use
Label dialyzer and blood lines with patient name and ID prior to first use (excluded single use)
Prepare dialysis solutions and mix bicarbonate according to formula
Explain dialysis procedure and operation of haemodialysis machine to patient before treatment to allay anxieties
Connect haemodialysis machine to patient’s access site to initiate dialysis
Monitor haemodialysis machine for malfunction
Maintain all log books, forms, and registers
