A minimum of 2 years of experience in life sciences venture capital, investment banking, or corporate development is necessary. Proficiency in venture capital terminology, investment processes, transaction structuring, and documentation is essential. Candidates must have strong business modeling, forecasting, financial analysis, and benchmarking skills. Experience with online resources like EDGAR, FDA databases, NCBI, and PitchBook is required, as are advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Superior written and oral communication skills, a team-player attitude, curiosity, the ability to learn quickly, a can-do attitude, self-confidence, and the ability to perform in ambiguous environments are also necessary. Travel up to 25% may be required, including international travel.
The Investment Analyst will screen deal flow, participate in introductory meetings, and track potential investments. They will assist in preparing investment committee deliverables and support quantitative modeling efforts, including capitalization tables, exit waterfalls, business/financial/health economics modeling, and benchmarking. Responsibilities also include conducting competitive landscape mapping, value-chain analysis, and qualitative research. Post-investment, the analyst will support portfolio performance optimization by tracking milestones, analyzing cash runways, and assisting with follow-on financing analysis. They will stay current on industry trends and prepare corporate reporting packages and portfolio updates. The role also involves compliance with company policies and assisting with assigned projects.
