Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or human services field preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in healthcare admissions or patient access, preferred
  • Completion of required trainings under Rogers’ policies
  • American Heart Association CPR certification within thirty (30) days of hire (bi-annual re-certification required)
  • Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within sixty (60) days of hire/transfer (annual re-certification required)
  • Electronic medical record software experience, preferred
  • General health insurance knowledge, preferred
  • Computer skills (including but not limited to: utilizing multiple platforms, Microsoft applications, basic troubleshooting) required
  • Availability to work a minimum of eight (8) shifts [64 hours] per 4-week scheduling period, including three weekend days, primarily weekend and PM shifts
  • Participate in weekend and holiday schedule as assigned (Level II pool: regular holiday rotation of three holidays per year: Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
  • Occasionally work at other Rogers locations in absence of coverage

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate incoming inquiries to determine and explain the next step to accessing care at Rogers
  • Complete Admission assessments with potential patients and/or their representatives
  • Demonstrate understanding and explanation of admitting processes, clinical criteria for admission, required admitting forms, policies/procedures related to bed assignment and capacity limitations
  • Describe levels of care within Rogers to potential patients and/or their representatives
  • Gather demographic and insurance information of potential patients and/or responsible representatives
  • Understand how to utilize and explain Rogers’ contracted payor listing
  • Complete all documentation steps for each inquiry and assessment, including entering inquiries in the designated system, capturing necessary information, obtaining and entering referral source information, and accurately entering clinical information into admission assessment tool
  • Adhere to department standards for performance measures, quality of call, and productivity
  • Connect potential patients and/or their representatives with outside resources when indicated
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external facilities/referents as it relates to access to care
  • Become familiar with Receptionist responsibilities and assist in that role when necessary
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Admissions leadership
  • Understand and apply policies and procedures in accordance with external regulatory agencies (e.g., Joint Commission, HIPAA, EMTALA, 42 CFR)
  • Attend and participate in development opportunities to increase involvement and awareness of regulations
  • Promote department goals and Mission of Rogers Behavioral Health by complying with Rogers culture agreements and all Hospital’s policies and procedures
