Requirements

  • Ability to meet regularly with dialysis patients at clinic(s) in assigned region
  • Knowledge of insurance options including Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, and COBRA
  • Capability to determine Medicare eligibility by meeting patients and contacting Social Security offices
  • Skills in assisting with Medicare and Medicaid applications, terminations, reinstatements, and open enrollment
  • Ability to track 30-month coordination period for patients on employer Group Health Plans
  • Proficiency in monitoring and verifying Medicaid status monthly, including spend down amounts
  • Competence in evaluating personal financial information for indigent program determinations
  • Experience with completing initial and annual indigent waiver applications
  • Ability to monitor and update patients' insurance information accurately for Accounts Receivable
  • Skills in researching and correcting discrepancies in billing systems and patient reports
  • Capability to prepare, analyze, and review monthly reports on caseload progress
  • Ability to provide monthly insurance status information and documentation to QA team
  • Completion of monthly audit exams to stay current on internal policies
  • Comfortable with desk work, personal computer use, and interaction in a health care facility environment

Responsibilities

  • Educate dialysis patients on alternative insurance options (Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, COBRA)
  • Ensure patients follow through with insurance application processes and obtain premium statements/signatures
  • Discuss insurance options for changes in employment status or other situations
  • Complete and follow up on paperwork for disputed claims due to non-payment
  • Collect documents for initial and annual indigent waivers
  • Discuss insurance options when contracts are terminated
  • Determine Medicare eligibility and assist with applications; act as liaison for terminations/reinstatements
  • Complete annual open enrollment and Medicare reinstatement papers
  • Track 30-month coordination period for employer Group Health Plan patients
  • Monitor and verify Medicaid status monthly and determine spend down amounts
  • Evaluate patient financial information for indigent program and complete waiver applications
  • Track and complete annual indigent waiver applications
  • Monitor all patients' insurance information for accuracy and update Accounts Receivable
  • Address anomalies/discrepancies, research, and answer questions
  • Meet with patients receiving direct insurance payments to ensure payment for dialysis treatments
  • Prepare, analyze, and review monthly reports to track caseload progress
  • Analyze patient reports from billing systems as audit checks and correct discrepancies
  • Provide QA team with monthly details on primary/secondary insurance status and action plans
  • Complete monthly audit exams
  • Present on insurance and financial assistance options as necessary
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by supervisor
  • Adhere to FMCNA Compliance Program, regulatory, and company policies
  • Support FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy
