Registered Nurse (RN) - active license in the state of practice (Upon Hire)
Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
Preferred: Certified In Infection Control (CBIC) (Upon Hire)
Preferred: 1-3 years acute care clinical nursing experience

Responsibilities

Develop, manage, and evaluate all aspects of the Infection Prevention program in accordance with Federal, State, and Local standards, guidelines, and regulations as directed by the Quality Care Committee
Assist IPAC leadership with surveillance, prevention, and control of infection
Implement and educate employees on established infection prevention and control (IPAC) policies, procedures, and plans
Perform surveillance using National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) surveillance definitions for healthcare-associated infections; assure successful submission of data to NHSN; serve as super user/administrator for NHSN data entry/submission and retrieval
Maintain data management logs/database for all program records, ensuring 100% accuracy
Review, investigate, and analyze lab and patient information using Clinical Surveillance Program
Compile and present healthcare-associated infection statistics to IPAC Committee(s) and nursing units; assist with IPAC committee meetings
Investigate outbreaks and changes in rates; assist in evaluating outcomes and processes to identify opportunities for performance improvement
Assure compliance with federal and state regulatory agencies; work cooperatively with public health infrastructure including communicable disease reporting
Work collaboratively with Employee Health, Environmental Safety, and individual departments to educate staff, monitor compliance, and recommend improvements; participate in Environmental Rounds and rounding on department units as needed
Work with quality staff on healthcare-associated infection committees by providing data and guidance in infection prevention
Maintain appropriate infection prevention knowledge and resources through APIC membership, APIC national conferences/education, and facility-supported education and resources
