Requirements

  • A valid Massachusetts audiology technician license
  • Experience as an audiology technician
  • Knowledge of current hearing aid technology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hearing tests: Perform basic hearing screenings and assessments, and assist the audiologist with more complex diagnostic procedures
  • Assist with fittings: Help with fitting hearing aids and other assistive listening devices, and teach patients how to use them
  • Perform maintenance and repairs: Clean, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on hearing aids and equipment
  • Take ear impressions: Take impressions for custom earmolds
  • Provide patient education: Counsel patients and their caregivers on hearing loss, device use, and care
  • Perform otoscopy: Conduct non-diagnostic otoscopy to check the ear canal
  • Maintain records: Keep patient records accurate and up-to-date, including electronic databases
  • Manage equipment: Calibrate and maintain audiometric equipment to ensure proper function
  • Handle supplies: Organize and manage inventory of supplies and devices
  • Coordinate care: Communicate with physicians and other healthcare providers as needed
