Responsibilities

Serve as a unit/department resource, providing customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff; greet persons, answer inquiries, direct, and assist them
Use appropriate reception etiquette for telephone, nurses’ desk, receiving area, and paging system; answer phones, make announcements, assist visitors, and provide direction during emergencies
Communicate messages, explanations, and instructions clearly, accurately, and timely to healthcare team members
Keep work area clean and organized; assist or be responsible for setting up/restocking rooms, ordering supplies, and cleaning
Accurately enter patient admission/registration information; assist with required forms, prepare charts, perform order entry, schedule appointments, and obtain/distribute patient education materials
Assist with transfer and/or discharge paperwork and communicate necessary information to receiving departments/facilities
Assist RN/LPN/Patient Care Tech in meeting patient care needs as requested and appropriate to the unit/department
