This position involves overseeing the analysis of proposed federal legislation and regulations to determine their potential impact on the organization. The Head of Government Affairs will work with internal stakeholders to establish company positions on federal regulations and communicate these positions internally and externally. Key responsibilities include educating public policymakers, creating and maintaining a positive leadership image for Illumina, and collaborating with business units on government relations strategies. The role also entails managing major company events with government officials, serving as a key liaison, tracking legislative and regulatory activities, participating in industry associations, and building third-party ally advocacy efforts.
Supports genomics startups through funding and resources
Illumina focuses on fostering innovation in the genomics industry by supporting startups through its Illumina Accelerator program. This program helps entrepreneurs create, launch, and grow genomics-focused companies by providing funding and resources. The accelerator operates in two main locations: the San Francisco Bay Area and Cambridge, UK.
