Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in operations, specifically AI/NLP operations, product operations, or data analysis, or in software development. A strong problem-solving ability with a systems-thinking and automation-first mindset is essential, along with proficiency in Python scripting for data processing and automation. Excellent communication skills are required to interface effectively with both technical and operational teams. Familiarity with structured data formats like CSV, JSON, JSONL, cloud storage such as S3, and telemetry and monitoring concepts is necessary. Experience with data annotation platforms, modern ETL systems, and machine learning is considered a bonus.

Responsibilities

The Generative AI Annotation Operations Engineer will be responsible for setting up, testing, and maintaining UI configurations for annotation tasks using third-party annotation platforms and internal tooling. They will design and adapt automation scripts within annotation pipelines, data processing, logging, and telemetry. This role involves collaborating with product managers, engineers, researchers, data annotators, and other cross-functional team members for annotation project setup, requirement gathering, prioritization, pre-annotation, and post-annotation processing and quality review. The engineer will act as the single-threaded owner for each project from requirement gathering to dataset delivery, communicating project updates, addressing concerns, and aligning expectations. They will track project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions, while also troubleshooting project setup issues, pipeline failures, and UI bugs. Additionally, the role includes developing and maintaining technical guidelines, playbooks, and internal tools to build and operate annotation projects, and leading general annotation operation improvement initiatives across various data domains.
