A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year of underwriting or related insurance experience are required. Strong customer service experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to quickly learn industry-specific software are essential. CPCU, CIC, CRIS, or a Property & Casualty Brokers License are considered a plus. Candidates should possess the ability to work collaboratively, have a strong desire to learn, and be flexible and able to pivot in response to shifting priorities.
The Underwriting Assistant will provide support to senior underwriting staff with administrative duties related to new and renewal accounts, risk assessment, and loss runs and ratings. They will assist with the computation of rates and premiums, analyze loss history and financial conditions, and conduct preliminary reviews of submissions to identify errors and confirm eligibility. The role involves collaborating with the underwriting team, utilizing multiple databases for data verification, managing inbound calls, responding to customer needs, and processing accounts from quote to policy issuance.
