Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and as a productive, contributing, and responsible member of a work team

  • Attendance and active participation in all required training
  • Ability to review manufacturing planning, part-specific engineering information, set-up information, and related instructions to understand work processes and quality requirements
  • Capability to select, align, secure holding fixtures/cutting tools/attachments/accessories/material to machines (e.g., hydraulic shear, chop saw), set up/tear down machines, and use forklift/other material handling equipment
  • Proficiency in using gauges, scales, calipers, mylars, blueprints, customer tools, and other measuring equipment to check part quality
  • Ability to perform 100% inspection of parts, complete statistical process control plans, and evaluate work against target times
  • Skills in minor machine maintenance and maintaining proper alignment/condition of machines
  • Ability to complete required documentation (e.g., manufacturing planning buy-off, part counts, labor card entry, set-up info, special notes, data collection, tie-in info, non-conforming material disposition)
  • Capability to notify leads/supervisors about discrepancies in set-up/run times
  • Ability to move completed parts to next operation/staging area and work with others using continuous process improvement and just-in-time techniques

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company and work center specific production, administration, and safety policies/procedures
  • Attend and actively participate in all required training
  • Review manufacturing planning, part-specific engineering information, set-up information, and/or related instructions to understand work process and quality requirements
  • For machine-dependent operations, select, align, secure holding fixtures/cutting tools/attachments/accessories/material to machines, set up machine, start/observe first part production to detect malfunctions/out-of-tolerance conditions, and adjust controls as required (machines include hydraulic shear, chop saw, forklift)
  • Use gauges, scales, calipers, mylars, blueprints, customer tools, and other measuring equipment to check first part quality
  • Obtain first part buy-off from lead person, supervisor, quality control inspector, and/or second team member, then complete production run
  • Perform 100% inspection of all parts after first part buy-off and complete statistical process control plans; use target times to evaluate timely completion
  • Notify lead person/supervisor about substantive discrepancies between manufacturing planning target times and actual set-up/run times
  • Perform minor machine maintenance and maintain proper alignment/condition of machine
  • Complete required documentation, including manufacturing planning operation buy-off, accurate part counts, labor card entry, set-up information, special notes, data collection plans, tie-in information, and disposition of non-conforming material
  • Tear down machine/hand tool set-up upon completion of production run and return tools/equipment/accessories to proper locations
  • Move completed part order to next manufacturing operation or staging area
  • Work with others using continuous process improvement tools/techniques and just-in-time manufacturing to develop/install process improvements impacting throughput, machine/human resource utilization
