Advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems for heavy equipment and vehicles
Knowledge of engine chassis repair and maintenance
Knowledge of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems
Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems for diagnosis and repair
Knowledge of welding tools to fix heavy equipment

Provide direction to technicians and lead technicians (and manage Fleet Maintenance Supervisor(s)) to ensure repairs and maintenance are performed safely, efficiently, and timely
Oversee planning and scheduling of repair work to increase productivity and manage overtime
Monitor shop operational performance and efficiency, redirect activities as needed, report to management, and implement procedures for improvements
Manage lead technicians and maintenance supervisor(s), including daily shop huddles, fleet walks, coaching, counseling, hiring, termination, training, performance evaluations, and recommendations for merit increases, promotions, or job changes
Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program, identify trends in road calls and breakdowns, oversee facility maintenance, and control costs related to personnel, purchasing, inventory, and outsourcing
Manage outside repair facilities to ensure work complies with company safety/compliance procedures and federal/state regulations, follow up as needed, identify training opportunities, and discuss corrective actions
Conduct Quality Control Inspections, track issues and resolutions to ensure compliance with company procedures and regulations
Manage fleet equipment (up to 60 diesel/alternative fuel vehicles), equipment/machinery at post-collection facilities, and container shops across one or more locations
