A Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering, preferably with historic or complex structures. An advanced degree, PE license, and certifications like NICET or CFPS are preferred.
Candidates need strong knowledge of fire protection principles, codes, and standards such as NFPA, ICC, and OSHA, along with proficiency in fire modeling software like FDS and Pathfinder, and CAD tools.
You will work with multidisciplinary teams including architects, engineers, contractors, and preservationists, as part of Procon Consulting's expanding team in McLean, VA.
A strong candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, 5+ years of fire protection engineering experience (especially with historic structures), a PE license, relevant certifications, and proficiency in fire modeling software and CAD.
