10+ years of experience gained within an insurance company, asset manager, investment bank, consultancy or similar institution
Comprehensive understanding of insurers’ Asset Liability Management, Strategic Asset Allocation and portfolio construction frameworks, including their interaction with the regulatory, accounting and risk management constraints under which insurers operate
Deep knowledge of the quantitative techniques underpinning asset allocation and portfolio optimization, such as linear and non-linear programming, including the ability to formulate quantitative approaches to a wide range of investment problems
Proven ability to lead technically complex projects under tight timescales, including the ability to tailor project deliverables to commercial, business and technical considerations
Experience of stochastic modelling, including familiarity with the Moody’s Economic Scenario Generator or other market-leading Economic Scenario Generator software (desirable)
Excellent problem-solving abilities, intellectual curiosity, and experience understanding and solving complex issues
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to distil complex topics into oral and written deliverables appropriate for a diverse range of stakeholders
High level of integrity and a focus on delivering work to a high standard, enabling the candidate to become a trusted partner to clients and peers
Professional designations such as CFA, FRM, FIA, FSA etc. (viewed favorably, but not essential)
Responsibilities
Lead complex advisory engagements across BlackRock’s global insurance client base, to help drive commercial outcomes for BlackRock by deepening relationships with clients, help position BlackRock’s existing capabilities and identify areas for new capability development
Partner with colleagues to drive the ongoing development of the team’s portfolio construction and asset allocation IP, to facilitate the deployment of all asset allocation frameworks to deliver high-quality work at scale for the broadest possible range of client engagements
Champion the team’s insurance advisory frameworks, driving their adoption and commercial impact globally
Act as a subject matter expert on insurance asset allocation, portfolio construction, asset-liability management and broader insurance balance sheet topics
Maintain strong relationships with internal partners in the Financial & Strategic Investors Group, BlackRock Investment Institute, Aladdin Financial Engineering and relevant investment teams to drive enhancements in analytical capabilities of relevance to insurers
