Job Description

Salary: $140,000 - $150,000 per year Employment Type: Full-Time Location Type: Remote

The Company You’ll Join

We exist to make investing in private markets as easy as Robinhood did for public stocks. As private equity and venture capital gain popularity, the traditional investment process, often involving lengthy and complex questionnaires, has become inefficient. We've developed a TurboTax-style workflow that streamlines fund closing by presenting only relevant questions to investors, significantly reducing completion time. Our record completion time is an impressive 6 minutes. We've processed billions of dollars for tens of thousands of investors, capturing essential identity information to create reusable investor profiles.

The Impact You’ll Have

Following our success in innovating the investor onboarding process, we are now focusing on enhancing our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures. As the first hire on the Financial Crime Audit team, you will be instrumental in providing assurance to our clients regarding their compliance with new SEC and FinCEN regulatory requirements. This role is an opportunity to grow with us, expand our AML business, and contribute to making our customers and their investors recommend us.

The Problems You’ll Solve

  • Conduct design and operating effectiveness audits for clients, focusing on annual independent testing.
  • Present findings and observations, including areas for improvement, to client senior management.
  • Develop financial crime risk and control matrices to ensure compliance with Investment Adviser AML and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT) rules.
  • Manage Passthrough’s AML audit platform.
  • Articulate complex investment strategies and financial crime risks effectively.
  • Provide feedback to management and engineering teams to enhance Passthrough for both internal and external users.

Desired Qualifications

  • Self-starter: Highly motivated with the ability to meet deadlines without micromanagement.
  • Experience: Prior anti-financial crime audit experience with a regulated institution, including leading audit engagements.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020, with a focus on testing anti-financial crime risks.
  • Tools Familiarity: Experience with due diligence screening tools such as ComplyAdvantage, LexisNexis, etc.
  • Certifications: Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification, with a preference for the CAMS-Audit designation.
  • Expertise: Proven ability to provide management action plans for audit findings and observations.

What to Expect in the Hiring Process

Our hiring process is designed to ensure equity and provide a comprehensive understanding of our team and culture. All candidates undergo the same interview steps and a background check.

  • Initial Screen: A 20-30 minute introductory chat with a team member.
  • Assessment: A 45-minute review of hypothetical screening results to determine next steps.
  • Meet Your Manager: A 45-minute meeting with Mark.
  • Meet Our Team:
    • 30-minute meeting with Ben, Co-founder and CPO.
    • 30-minute meeting with Justis, Product Manager.
    • 30-minute meeting with a member of the Financial Crime team.
  • Decision: We aim to provide feedback on the next steps within one week.
