Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, or Diploma in Engineering or Biology with relevant diagnostic experience (Molecular Biology background preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years as a Medical Technologist in the diagnostic market
  • Hands-on experience with lab automation systems, LIS/connectivity, molecular diagnostics, and microbiology techniques
  • Proven technical support and training experience in clinical diagnostics
  • Experience working with KOLs and customer engagement within Zambia
  • Strong track record of achieving measurable results
  • Previous experience in Africa is an advantage
  • Strong customer orientation and relationship management
  • Excellent technical presentation and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and calm under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and networking skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CRM/ERP systems (Salesforce preferred)
  • Strong time management, cultural sensitivity, and adherence to compliance standards
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Zambia and occasionally across Southern Africa and globally
  • Flexibility to work after hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work in laboratory environments with moderate-to-loud noise levels

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Cepheid systems on customer sites
  • Support laboratories with instrument integration, workflow optimization, validation, and accreditation
  • Deliver training on systems, software, reagents, and connectivity
  • Record all activities (installations, training, customer support, follow-up) in SFDC and provide market intelligence reports
  • Conduct proactive preventive maintenance, modifications, repairs, and installations/de-installations
  • Manage spare parts stock and car inventory for efficient field operations
  • Build strong customer relationships and ensure high satisfaction through a proactive, solutions-focused approach
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve escalations and provide effective corrective actions
  • Partner with Sales Representatives to develop account strategies and accelerate Cepheid’s growth
  • Engage with stakeholders to generate testing demand, identify new assay opportunities, and support fast adoption
  • Assist HBDC sales teams with pre- and post-sales technical activities within Zambia and across Southern Africa
  • Conduct technical presentations, demonstrations, and workshops to promote Cepheid products
  • Complete all assigned training on time
  • Ensure customer training is delivered effectively and consistently
  • Share technical insights and best practices with colleagues to support continuous improvement
