Requirements

  • Reside in the Houston area
  • Innovative, high energy, resilient, determined, assertive, clever, and competitive
  • Knowledge of Texas workers' compensation laws
  • Skilled at developing strategies to bring claims to resolution
  • Ability to work from home office approximately 40% of the time and in the field approximately 60% of the time
  • Willingness to travel overnight as needed based on caseload
  • Physical ability for prolonged sitting and/or standing
  • Frequent travel, including some overnight travel
  • Ability to operate and/or travel in a motor vehicle for long periods of time
  • Occasional travel by other means

Responsibilities

  • Investigating losses
  • Analyzing coverage, determining compensability and benefits
  • Establishing reserves and negotiating settlements
  • Conducting face-to-face meetings with claimants and insureds
  • Preparing large loss reports to both internal and external audiences
  • Attending settlement conferences, pre-trials and trials as assigned
  • Working closely with defense attorneys and other vendors including medical case management, surveillance, etc
  • Adjusting workers' compensation claims with the highest potential exposure
