Candidates should possess a High School Diploma, and require either 2-3 years of field appraiser experience or 3-5 years of auto repair/body shop experience. Strong customer service experience is necessary, along with good computer, planning, organizing, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively deal with conflict. Some positions may require specific bilingual skills.
The Field Auto Appraiser will investigate, evaluate, and appraise damaged automobiles and settle claims within an authorized dollar limit, examining vehicle damage in the field and documenting the condition. They will participate in training programs, follow company guidelines for appraisals and supplements, negotiate repair prices with facilities, maintain a list of approved suppliers, and ensure equitable payment of physical damage losses while obtaining necessary documentation to substantiate appraisals. Additionally, the appraiser may visit repair shops to evaluate facilities and negotiate settlements in a timely manner.
