Fluency in French and Arabic is required, along with strong English communication skills. Prior field experience supporting customers in a highly technical field, a strong understanding of genomics and sequencing applications, and proficiency with general lab best practices and molecular biology techniques are essential. Experience with instrumentation like liquid handling robotics, optical scanners, genotyping data analysis software, and bioinformatics tools is a plus. Superior problem-solving, interpersonal, account management, and training skills are also required. The role requires willingness to travel up to 60%.
The Field Applications Specialist will provide technical support and training to channel partners across Africa, facilitating customer training, data analysis, logistical support, and troubleshooting. They will ensure maximum utilization of Illumina systems by working closely with channel partners to increase system pull-through and customer retention. Responsibilities include coordinating new customer sites, conducting facility inspections, performing instrument validation, arranging customer pilot training, and reviewing the operational quality of equipment. The specialist will also guide channel partner teams on system usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including assay design, experiment setup, software usage, and instrument handling. They will build strong connections with channel partner teams, identify competency gaps, and support key accounts and strategic sales efforts through technical presentations and demonstrations. Additionally, the role involves developing and improving company processes for case logging, documentation, and reporting.
