Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design or related field (or suitable combination of education, experience, and training)
  • At least 8 years professional experience in design and art direction, within product or marketing, brand or agency
  • Sport obsessed with deep understanding of where sport and design intersect
  • Understanding and strong point of view for imaging world’s best athletes, innovative products, and sport culture
  • Creative leadership – works with Sr. Creative Directors to deliver impactful work through ambiguity and complexity as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proven art direction & design knowledge – expertise in photography, motion layout, typography, illustration, identity, digital production, and publishing across editorial formats and platforms
  • Strategic communication – effectively applies visual skills to communicate complex ideas, aligning stakeholders with clarity and influence
  • Collaboration & influence – strong interpersonal skills to foster cross-functional teamwork with internal and external partners in an open, positive environment
  • Entrepreneurial Drive – proactively identifies opportunities and drives innovation
  • Talent magnetism – helps identify and connect with top creative talent

Responsibilities

  • Team culture, leadership & growth development – mentor team members to grow, improve, succeed, and advance toward collective and individual goals
  • Elevating the craft & storytelling – lead consistent level of deliverables across art & design, constantly elevating Nike’s Design and Art Direction output
  • Support studios with hands-on creative work – lead innovative thinking, collaboration, and hands-on execution on day-to-day projects; represent creative in leadership reviews when needed
  • Provide inspiration for the discipline – keep up to date with emerging trends in fashion, design, film, art, media, sport culture, and technology relevant to Nike and the team
  • Cross-functional collaboration – collaborate with Retail, Digital, Media, E-commerce, Brand Voice Styling, Marketing to deliver integrated and impactful consumer experiences
  • Industry & sport culture connectivity – demonstrate active interest and connection with creative industry through event attendance, talent scouting, and trend leadership
  • Partner with Art Director, Sr. Creative Directors, Designers, Brand Marketing Directors, Brand Creative Leadership, Narrative Leads, Retail Design, Digital Design, Production, Operations, and external agencies
  • Help set the look and feel of campaigns and sport categories in partnership with Senior Creative Director and Art Director, including strategic intent, ideation, and execution
