Requirements

Candidates must possess a strong foundation in software engineering principles with a focus on cloud-native development and deployment methodologies. Extensive experience with the Azure cloud platform, Azure solution architecture, and best practices, including Azure services relevant to cloud software development, AKS, networking, and storage is required. A strong understanding of both infrastructure and software engineering principles, particularly with Kubernetes cluster administration, application deployment, networking, and security is necessary. Experience with open-source tools like FluxCD, Kong, and Linkerd, and their integration with Azure is needed. Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, GitOps principles, GitHub Actions, Azure Resource Manager, and Kubernetes integration is essential. Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, secure development practices, and Terraform for infrastructure-as-code in Azure and Kubernetes is required. Candidates should be proficient in at least one programming language such as Go, C#, or JS. An understanding of UX and DevX principles, strong security best practices including zero-trust principles, and knowledge of Azure and Kubernetes security features are important. Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills in cloud-based applications are necessary, along with the ability to quickly learn new technologies and strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

The Platform Engineer will design, build, and evolve the core infrastructure and internal developer platform using Azure services, with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) at its core. Responsibilities include creating tools and automation for infrastructure provisioning, continuous integration and delivery, and application lifecycle management, leveraging Azure services and adhering to GitOps principles. The role involves ensuring high availability and operational excellence of the platform while continuously enhancing the developer experience (DevX).
