Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education in a mechanical trade
  • 4+ years’ experience as a field service technician or field repair technician in a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong proven skills in automation and troubleshooting
  • Good judgement and decision-making skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift (8 to 12 hours) as well as some extended hours and weekends
  • Comfortable with electrical & PLC Controls
  • Welding skills (considered an asset)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting, and repairing issues during production
  • Restore, repair, rebuild, or replace faulty or inoperative components and parts
  • Troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, generators, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, packaging machines, VFDs, PLCs)
  • Inspect and examine machinery (conveyors, packers, seasoners, sensors, PLCs, VFDs) to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
  • Perform maintenance tasks according to work orders (cleaning, lubrication, etc.)
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment breakdowns
  • Perform daily maintenance and repairs needed in the production area
  • Setup, take-down, and relocation of Processing and Packaging equipment
  • Follow safety and food safety protocols
  • Stay on call for emergency repairs of production equipment
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
