Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental, natural science, engineering preferred and/or a combination of formal education and job related experience
  • Ability to provide mentoring to entry level employees on compliance system management, assisting with compliance requirements and organizational procedures and tools
  • Senior level knowledge of compliance requirements and operating or construction parameters
  • Experience managing field inspections for operating assets and construction projects
  • Ability to enhance existing compliance programs based on audit results and lead internal audits
  • Capability to represent the company in evaluation and implementation of minor emerging regulatory issues
  • Skill in recognizing and resolving regulatory applicability issues, identifying compliance requirements and tasks, and applying risk-based analysis
  • Ability to manage all environmental programs for complex operating assets or construction projects
  • Experience reviewing environmental inspection reports and resolving potential compliance issues
  • Skill in negotiating with contract and consultant resources, evaluating performance, and making recommendations
  • Ability to manage the permit process from start to finish for all media
  • Capability to manage multiple compliance systems across multiple media and contribute to system enhancements
  • Experience training new users on compliance systems and procedures
  • Ability to manage and participate in agency inspections and represent the company in negotiations

Responsibilities

  • Provide mentoring to entry level employees on compliance system management, assisting with compliance requirements and organizational procedures and tools
  • Develop tools and templates to manage the collection of environmental compliance and remediation information with quality and accuracy reviews
  • Manage field inspections for operating assets and construction projects, answering questions on applicability and compliance
  • Enhance existing compliance programs based on audit results and lead internal audits of facilities
  • Represent the company in evaluation and implementation of minor emerging regulatory issues through industry associations or Regulatory Issue Guidelines
  • Recognize and resolve regulatory applicability issues, identify compliance requirements and tasks, apply risk-based analysis, and support less experienced professionals
  • Manage all environmental programs and their application within complex operating assets or construction projects
  • Recognize the need for and develop new procedures and tools to facilitate and demonstrate compliance
  • Review environmental inspection reports and resolve potential compliance issues
  • Negotiate with contract and consultant resources to ensure appropriate service levels and competitive rates, evaluate performance, and recommend continued use
  • Manage the permit process from start to finish for all media, ensuring quality and accuracy of permit conditions based on compliance risk
  • Manage multiple compliance systems across multiple media for complex sites and projects, contribute to enhancements, train new users, and participate in new system development
  • Manage and participate in agency inspections, represent the company in negotiations on compliance or enforcement issues
  • Coordinate and facilitate environmental project permitting prior to, during, and after construction for maintenance, growth, and large capital projects
  • Collect and review environmental field samples (air, water, and waste) for analysis
  • Participate in spill drills and tabletop exercises, provide emergency response support for assigned area, and respond 24/7 to emergency events including reporting spills/releases
