Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or relevant experience
  • 3 years or more of required experience in a similar position
  • English B1 level (able to understand and address corporate requirements)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations: NOM-043 SEMARNAT (particles from stationary sources), NOM-085 (air pollution)
  • Experience managing environmental licenses and certifications, including Single Environmental License and Annual Operating Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and support robust and consistent environmental stewardship program strategies aligned with GM’s mission to deliver sustainable solutions that improve the communities in which we live and work
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental strategies focused on air permits, emissions control, and regulatory compliance
  • Lead risk assessments and mitigation plans for environmental liabilities, including hazardous materials, spills, and operational impacts
  • Manage chemical inventories and regulatory reporting in alignment with SEMARNAT and internal protocols
  • Support and coordinate environmental aspects of new projects, including impact evaluations and permit acquisition
  • Ensure readiness and response for internal and external audits (ISO 14001, legal compliance, corporate standards)
  • Key engagement with plant management and employees, FAMs, regulatory agencies, internal and external community leaders, legal staff, GM and external audit services, utility service providers, and chemical/resource management business partners
