Requirements

  • Experience with CAM/CAD software: Mastercam, Pro/E and Vericut
  • Direct experience with providing direct machining support such as creating new programs, troubleshooting and/or updating existing programs
  • Advanced level of understanding machines platforms such as mills, chucker and Swiss style lathes
  • Proven experience troubleshooting machining issues, research and developing tools, fixtures and programming solutions to solve quality and safety issues
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (Including, but not limited to: ISO 13485, ISO 14971, MDD 93/42 EEC, PAL, CMDR, and 21 CFR Part 820)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development of all CNC machining program code
  • Review engineering drawings and initiates changes, or recommendations, for manufacturing tools, fixtures, CNC programs, through the change control system
  • Provides technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes and products
  • Monitors instruments and equipment and collects operating data, including calibration, inspection, testing and repair activities, to assist in making on-line adjustments to instruments, equipment, or products
  • Analyzes and resolves malfunctions and deviations of instruments and control systems to identify and resolve problems
  • Conducts, analyses and prepares reports using metrics from salvage tracking, trending, reporting and root-cause analyses
  • Maintains process designs to optimize process, equipment and facility use while conforming to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Completes activities of the change control policy and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) system in accordance with policy
  • Work in cross-collaborative teams to execute risk management activities (i.e. pFMEA)
  • Creates conceptual designs for new fixtures and special cutting tools. Which can require tool design reviews with Tooling Team personnel, purchasing personnel and outside tool suppliers
  • May make recommendations to leadership on plant layout
  • May in determining appropriate machine platforms for product and review any necessary capital equipment requirements along with specifying required capital tool holders
  • Develops manufacturing setup sheets for all machining operations for new products
  • May recommend equipment acquisitions. Works with equipment suppliers on equipment specifications, quoting of specified equipment and delivery schedules
  • Reviews product drawings for manufacturability. Initiates drawing changes with the product design engineer to improve manufacturing quality and reduce costs
  • Proactively execute and support development of validation and qualification studies. Provide input to assist in developing the strategy with appropriate teams
  • Support product launches, transfer of product and core business initiatives
  • May lead in the training of new team members as well as training for new CNC machine programs, machining processes, or machining equipment
  • Travel as required for company business needs
