About the Job

As an Engineering Manager overseeing cross-functional teams at Flex, you will lead and mentor a diverse group of engineers, fostering collaboration across various disciplines to deliver impactful products and platform features. Your leadership will be pivotal in defining the team's vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Flex's mission to innovate the rent payment landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Mentorship:
    • Guide and inspire a team of engineers, promoting a culture of ownership, inclusiveness, accountability, pragmatism, and urgency.
    • Provide coaching and development opportunities to cultivate talent and drive team excellence.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner closely with product managers, designers, operations, and business leaders to evolve the team's vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding customer needs.
    • Ensure seamless collaboration across disciplines to build impactful products and platform features.
  • Technical Excellence:
    • Lead and participate in critical technical, design, strategy, and product discussions with leaders across the organization.
    • Drive consensus around architectural and design decisions, ensuring our software remains scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Product Development:
    • Work with cross-functional partners to build impactful products and platform features.
    • Define your team’s vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding your customers’ needs.
    • Creatively solve challenging technical problems at scale.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Plan and execute an engineering roadmap that balances new and innovative feature development with ongoing maintenance, reliability, and performance improvements.
    • Establish best practices for coding, testing, deployment, and documentation, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of industry experience designing and building complex systems and delivering quality software.
    • 3+ years of demonstrated success managing engineering teams, including providing mentorship, feedback, and investing in the career growth of team members.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong technical background in software development.
    • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable software.
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Proven ability to build a world-class team by hiring exceptional talent, coaching and developing engineers, and cultivating pragmatic engineering decision-making.
    • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and autonomy.
  • Communication:
    • Excellent communication skills with a history of healthy collaboration with product managers, engineers, and other engineering managers on developing roadmaps and executing against them.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Well-developed curiosity and enjoyment in building creative solutions to complex problems.
    • Ability to prioritize urgency, excellence, and delivery in a fast-paced and high-growth environment.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.

  • For working locations in NY/NJ/CA: The base salary pay range will be $221,000 - $237,000.
  • For all other states: The base salary pay range will be $199,000 - $213,000.
