Requirements

  • 3+ years managing an effective engineering team, specializing in data
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building high-volume data ingestion and transformation applications
  • Experience working with web engineering teams and understanding their concepts and technologies
  • Experience with the inner workings of software development by a team on a shared codebase, including effective communication, development processes, and tooling
  • Thrived working on a semi or fully-remote team (effective async communication, independent work, knowing when to ask for help, self-managing time and effort)
  • Direct, empathetic communicator who values thoughtful feedback for growth
  • Continuous learner, driven to understand systems, improve, and impact at different levels
  • Experience with technologies like Databases (MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, Clickhouse), Infra (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform), Frontend (React, Typescript), Backend (Python, Django) is a plus
  • Legal work authorization in Canada (outside Quebec)

Responsibilities

  • Manage data and integration engineering pods
  • Coach and mentor the team, setting and holding a high bar for performance
  • Drive initiatives and priorities for teams, managing dependencies across the company
  • Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of Hive’s engineering leadership team
  • Recruit great engineers in collaboration with the People team
  • Improve processes and tools to increase team productivity and outcomes
