A strong software engineering background is necessary to drive technical decisions and engage with engineers of all seniority levels. Proven success in leading and shipping sophisticated software projects on time in a loosely structured environment is required, along with strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships. Experience effectively communicating with senior leadership and advocating for engineering priorities is also needed.
The Engineering Manager will direct a geographically distributed team of engineers to drive improvements to the Firefox browser through innovations and enhancements to the user interface. Responsibilities include driving initiatives to deliver user value, ensuring high-quality, available, monitored, and maintainable software, and communicating team goals, project scope, and risks. The manager will also identify and iterate on engineering processes, conduct regular 1-1s with team members focusing on technical work and professional development, provide feedback, and ensure developers are supported and empowered. Creating an inclusive environment and collaborating with Product, UX, QA, Operations, and Data Analysis teams are also key duties.
