Requirements

  • Excellent proven communication skills

  • Knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing Systems
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations (PCPs, 6 Pillars, A,B,C Metrics)
  • Knowledge of the total production process
  • Demonstrated experience and ability negotiating with the union leadership and managing both salary and hourly personnel concerns
  • No need for GM immigration sponsorship (cannot apply if sponsorship required now or in future)
  • Ability to work onsite full-time at Flint Assembly

Responsibilities

  • Coach, train, develop and evaluate employees
  • Provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems
  • Assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations
  • Administer divisional and Corporate policies
  • Meet cost, schedule and quality requirements
  • Maintain Corporate and unit management control systems, budget and other information necessary to monitor performance
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards
  • Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
  • Assist in the forecasting of areas of responsibility and establish a course of action to accomplish completion of the job or project
  • Assist in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities
  • Manage salaried employees in the implementation and execution of the established business process for the department and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation
  • Provide technical leadership and guide teams toward the successful execution of manufacturing processes
  • Develop new processes, standards, or operational plans in support of the organization's business strategies
  • Influence others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches
  • Identify problems, update, or modify working methods that may be complex without defined procedures
  • Promote GM's values and make customer-focused decisions
  • Support/Manage the manufacturing operations and paint automation
  • Promote, educate, communicate and follow up on safety initiatives
  • Provide leadership for SPQRCE for the department and lead the SPQRCE initiatives
  • Champion of allocated BPD activities
  • Discuss weekly production plan with production control
  • Incorporate training requirements in production
  • Work with maintenance on maintaining the TPM program
  • Execute CIP workshops
  • Liaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasures
  • Manage budget and achievement of productivity improvements
  • Interact with Local ME on processing, lay out and tooling for current and future products
