Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience; or an Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields
Valid Driver's License
Technical knowledge acquired from an Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology
Basic computer literacy, knowledge, and skills
Ability to meet physical demands: Light Work (exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10-12 pounds frequently, negligible up to 5-6 pounds constantly); walk right ways of various terrain in adverse conditions; carry/handle telescopic measuring sticks (11 pounds), brush axe (6 pounds), or machete (2 pounds)
Responsibilities
Perform entry-level technical work and related activities associated with planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of company equipment and facilities
Assist employees in handling defined portions of routine problems
Perform work activities as assigned and coached by higher-level employees
Plan work in accordance with AEP standard planning practices, prioritize routine work, and maintain accurate records
Apply technical knowledge and experience to resolve problems in assigned work, use initiative to improve processes and increase job knowledge/technical skills, and compile/analyze/interpret information
Communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal/external customers, assist in preparing technical reports/papers, and demonstrate team player abilities
Develop decision-making skills based on sound judgment and job knowledge, and understand roles/responsibilities of the local organizational unit
Gain knowledge of standards, codes, regulations, equipment, materials, systems, and business processes relevant to the area of assignment
