Position Overview

This role involves building, maintaining, and implementing automated test frameworks and tools. The Engineer II, Software will collaborate with product development teams to create scientific software solutions, develop full-stack web applications, and maintain existing software applications. The position also includes building and running continuous deployment technologies and creating code documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and implement automated test frameworks and tools using standard methodologies.
  • Work with product development teams (scientists and engineers) to collect requirements and craft interactive scientific software solutions.
  • Develop full-stack web applications using the latest browser, server-side, and database technologies.
  • Maintain, support, update, and enhance software applications.
  • Build and run continuous deployment technologies for efficient software implementation.
  • Build and implement code documentation to support design, development, and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer, Developer, or a related occupation.
  • Alternative Education/Experience: Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field, plus 2 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer, Developer, or a related occupation.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Java Technologies: Core Java, Java EE, Struts 2, Tiles, Spring, JDBC, Hibernate, JSP, JSTL, Web services (SOAP/WSDL), JAXB, EHCache, Maven, Tomcat server.
  • Client-Side Technologies: JavaScript/Ajax, CSS, JSON, jQuery, HTML5, frameworks including jQuery, Bootstrap, and Angular.
  • DevOps & Cloud: AWS DevOps (or other Cloud environments like Azure or GCP) and command-line usage.
  • System Administration: Network administration in Linux and Windows.
  • Tools: Eclipse IDE, Git, Perforce, HPQC, Confluence/Jira, Subversion, Oracle Developer, Selenium QC.
  • Databases & Data Formats: RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, etc.) and working with data formats like XML.
  • Server-Side Technologies: PHP, Perl, Ruby, and Python.
  • Programming/Administration: Linux programming or administration.
  • Methodologies: Agile Software Development process.
