Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical assembly, prototype wiring, or robotic system integration
  • Strong knowledge of electrical connectors, cable harness design, and low-voltage wiring best practices
  • Proficient with hand tools for wire crimping, stripping, soldering, and routing
  • Experienced in PCB soldering/rework (IPC-A-610/620 certification is a plus)
  • Comfortable reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and following build documentation
  • Familiar with basic electrical safety and ESD protocols
  • Able to work independently and manage shifting priorities in a dynamic hardware environment
  • Experience working with or building test setups for robotics, mechatronics, or automation systems
  • Bonus: Experience with 3D CAD (e.g., Onshape/SolidWorks) for component layout or harness planning
  • Able to perform hands-on tasks involving repetitive motion, crouching, reaching, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable with a role that involves standing and moving throughout a warehouse environment for most of the workday
  • Willing and able to work on-site at our Charlestown, MA facility five days per week

Responsibilities

  • Build, route, and install complex cable harnesses, connectors, and wiring assemblies for robotic systems
  • Perform PCB soldering/rework, crimping, and terminations (through-hole and surface mount)
  • Support prototype robot builds, test setups, electrical configuration updates, and system integration
  • Recommend and source electrical components and connectors for proto and production builds
  • Collaborate with engineers to power up, debug, and validate electrical sub-systems
  • Maintain and document electrical build processes, test logs, schematics, and change records for repeatability and traceability
  • Participate in design reviews, failure analysis, and risk assessments from a hands-on perspective
  • Provide real-time feedback to improve cable routing, board layout, or electrical subsystem design
  • Occasionally travel to assist with robot deployments, retrofits, or troubleshooting in the field
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain and Engineering to track and manage long-lead electrical parts and BOMs
  • Contribute weekly updates on electrical build status, resource needs, risks, and upcoming work
