Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
5 - 10 years of experience with high voltage substation design required (encompassing distribution, sub-transmission and transmission level voltage classes)
Strong knowledge of utility standards, NESC, and understanding of construction techniques required
Exposure to Bentley Projectwise, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu PDF preferred
Professional Engineering License preferred
Willingness to travel
Self-motivated, works well with others, excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills

Responsibilities

Act as lead engineer on substation design projects, delegate tasks to less experienced engineers and design technicians, ensure projects remain under budget and on schedule
Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects
Perform detailed quality reviews of project deliverables
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and design technicians
Provide guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes
Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards
Attend and/or conduct client and project meetings
Create scope, budget, and schedule for project tasks
Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports and technical presentations
Develop electrical design deliverables, including protection and control design (protective relays) and/or physical design with emphasis on continuous improvement
Prepare one-lines, installation plans, section views, and details for power substation equipment
Prepare schematics, panel elevations, panel wiring diagrams, and interconnection diagrams for protective relaying & control schemes for power substation equipment
Prepare research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
Prepare complex engineering calculations/studies related to substation projects (e.g., lightning protection, conduit fill, AC/DC station service loading, surge arrester sizing, voltage drop)
Prepare RTU control, status and analog point lists, raceway/cable schedules along with maintenance/signage and nameplates
Maintain excellent client relations
Maintain a safe working environment
