Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5-10 years of experience with high-voltage substation design (distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission level voltage classes)
  • Proficiency with Bentley Projectwise, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu PDF Editor (preferred)
  • Self-motivated with excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with others

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead engineer on substation design projects, delegate tasks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Actively coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects
  • Perform detailed quality reviews of project deliverables
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and design technicians
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards
  • Provide guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes
  • Attend and/or conduct client and project meetings
  • Create scope, budget, and schedule for project tasks
  • Assist with proposals, marketing, project reports, and technical presentations
  • Develop electrical design deliverables, including: One-lines, Installation plans, Section views and details, Protective relaying and control design
  • Prepare schematics, panel elevations, panel wiring diagrams, and interconnection diagrams
  • Prepare research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or material selection
  • Perform complex engineering calculations/studies related to substation projects, including: Lightning protection, Conduit fill, AC/DC station service loading, Surge arrester sizing, Voltage drop
  • Prepare RTU control, status, and analog point lists, raceway/cable schedules
