Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the manufacture of pet foods and snacks while complying with all food safety, quality and regulatory requirements
  • Understand and support company and site safety policies and perform work-related activities in a safe manner
  • Recognize unsafe working conditions, coach peers and suggest new safety standards as appropriate
  • Understand, follow and improve documented operational, maintenance and sanitation standards in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) work environment
  • Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs electrical, instrumentation, controls and automation equipment and software
  • Utilize drawings, prints and instruction manuals to determine proper steps to be taken for equipment preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs
  • Coach other team members on electrical, instrumentation and controls skills; defect identification and resolution; machine functionality and equipment repair
  • Actively participate in training and qualification programs for designated area, participate in assessments, ensure effective training and maintain consistent qualification standards
  • Support the adherence of NFPA 70e standards for facility
  • Review, follow and write standard operating procedures, one-point lessons and safe practices
  • Increase skills and knowledge in E&I technology by attending technical training sessions, participating in vendor visits and scheduled maintenance activities
  • Facilitates effective shift passdowns with the prior/next shift to discuss safety, quality and production issues
  • Lead projects to improve safety, quality or production results in a designated area
  • Work as part of a team and assist fellow employees when needed
  • Model behaviors consistent with the Smucker Basic Beliefs, maintaining professional and respectful relationships with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Other duties as assigned
