Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Associates degree, technical school certificate, or military training in the instrument controls field or a closely related field (highly desired)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, electrical control drawings, and maintenance instruments manuals
- Instrumentation background, e.g., calibrating transmitters, actuators, PH probes, and work with PLC’s
- Ability to work on feet for extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules
- Ability to frequently climb stairs; climb ladders to and work from elevated platforms and walkways at elevations of 75 feet or more
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions while exposed to heat, cold, operating machinery, energized wires, loud noise, dust, grease, oil, and fumes
- Ability to carry, bend, stoop, and crawl
- Ability to frequently climb ladders; enter confined spaces; climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways at elevations of 80 feet and more; crawl through confined areas; correctly wear and maintain respirators
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, maintain, and repair electrical equipment & controls, relay protection schemes, electrical monitoring equipment, pneumatic controls, valve operators and controls, ignition systems, various operating gauges, instruments, PLC’s and alarms
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant electronic, pneumatic systems, analyzers, facility computers, process control equipment, and instrumentation
- Perform troubleshooting activities on all plant electrical equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems, read and interpret online diagrams, electrical protection scheme, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals
- Participate in major maintenance projects, including equipment overhauls and removal and replacement of major units and parts. Inspects and monitors work of third-party contractors during major equipment repair or installation
- Evaluate, maintain, and repair (low, medium, high voltage) breakers, switch gear, switch yards, motor control centers, AC & DC motors, electrical disconnect, transformers, lighting panels, HVAC UPS, batteries, chargers, inverters, and VFDs (120Volt AC to 345KVAC)
