Requirements

  • Current student enrolled and pursuing a B.S., M.S., or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of classroom setting through laboratory, research, extracurricular projects, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience (highly preferred)
  • Experience with control system software (LabVIEW, PLCs, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles
  • Experience with control system analysis and design and control systems protocols (a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Self-starter with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with cross-functional teams
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Ability to move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and implementation of control systems for the test reactor
  • Support measurement instrumentation and automated digital system process control
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of control systems
  • Participate in troubleshooting and optimizing control systems to enhance performance
  • Perform data collection, analysis, and documentation to support project needs
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of technical reports and presentations
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends
  • Support various engineering tasks, including testing, validation, and prototyping
  • Actively participate in team meetings, providing updates and contributing to discussions
  • Maintain clear and organized records of all work performed
  • Other duties as assigned
