Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in an Environmental Health and Safety field and a minimum of 1 year of experience or a master’s degree required
  • Experience designing and implementing compliance strategies with OSHA regulations required
  • In depth compliance knowledge of the following OSHA regulations: beryllium standard, radiation safety, confined space entry, lock out/tagout, machine guarding, mobile equipment, personal protective equipment, and material handling
  • Management systems experience preferred
  • Export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology (U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee/refugee, national of non-prohibited country via letter of assurance, or approved for export license)

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and deployment of best-in-class EHS programs, systems and processes
  • Works with facility leadership and senior EHS professionals in complying with federal, state and local EHS regulations
  • Uses the EHS strategic plan as a template for continuous improvement of EHS metrics
  • Helps drive effective, sustainable implementation of corporate and local initiatives
  • Communicates with regulatory authorities with the assistance of senior EHS professional(s)
  • Maintains an effective communication process with the locations operational and maintenance organizations
  • Provides training to facility employees and acts as a technical EHS resource for site personnel
  • Assists facility leadership with the execution of EHS programs and regulations
  • May act as the facility radiation safety officer and support site strategic and tactical EHS teams
  • Provides guidance on compliance with all relevant OSHA regulatory requirements including confined space entry, lock out/tagout, machine guarding, mobile equipment, personal protective equipment and material handling
  • Conducts audits to ensure OSHA compliance
  • Participates in incident investigations, develops corrective actions and enters information into Materion Safety
