Requirements

  • BS in EHS or a related field and 1-3 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in EHS or a related field and 0-1 years of relevant experience
  • Preferred: A BS degree in a relevant EHS field
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of EHS principles, practices and equipment to determine if proper methods and procedures are utilized and to assure compliance with Federal, State, local and industrial regulations
  • Performs routine assignments and has a basic understanding of the fundamental EHS theories, practices, and concepts
  • Develops competence through the execution of structured work assignments
  • Uses existing processes, methods, and procedures to solve routine problems
  • Receives guidance and instruction from more senior EHS staff
  • Export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology (U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee/refugee, national of non-prohibited country via letter of assurance, or approved for export license)

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and deployment of best-in-class EHS programs, systems and processes
  • Works with facility leadership and senior EHS professionals in complying with federal, state and local EHS regulations
  • Uses the EHS strategic plan as a template for continuous improvement of EHS metrics
  • Helps drive effective, sustainable implementation of corporate and local initiatives
  • Communicates with regulatory authorities with the assistance of senior EHS professional(s)
  • Maintains an effective communication process with the locations operational and maintenance organizations
  • Provides training to facility employees and acts as a technical EHS resource for site personnel
  • Assists facility leadership with the execution of EHS programs and regulations
  • May act as the facility radiation safety officer and support site strategic and tactical EHS teams
  • Provides guidance on compliance with all relevant OSHA regulatory requirements including confined space entry, lock out/tagout, machine guarding, mobile equipment, personal protective equipment, and material handling
  • Conducts audits to ensure OSHA compliance
  • Participates in incident investigations, develops corrective actions, and enters information into Materion Safety
  • Provides leadership for the Elmore Emergency Response Team (ERT)
  • Coordinates off-site training as necessary to maintain member preparedness and certifications
  • Develops, delivers, and facilitates ongoing trainings and drills for all ERT members
  • Maintains records for auditing purposes
  • Functions as Incident Commander for the ERT team when on plant site
  • Interacts with local emergency response organizations to develop positive relationships in the community
