Requirements

  • More than 5 years of experience in managing health, safety, and environment (EHS) programs
  • Solid knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements in environment, health, and safety

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of a health, safety, and environment (EHS) management system
  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments based on regulations and best practices, and develop action plans to drive improvement
  • Develop and deliver site-specific training programs for stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Perform internal site audits, prepare reports, and maintain records
  • Support external audits and ensure follow-up on corrective action compliance
  • Participate in developing standardized safety systems, policies, training, campaigns, and injury prevention programs, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal laws
  • Align with Sysco Corporation's EHS strategy and ensure its implementation
  • Design safety methods to motivate and influence the creation of a world-class safety culture
  • Implement standardized, actionable safety performance indicators and a communication protocol for management teams to drive improvements
  • Stay informed on current and upcoming legislation impacting safety standards, programs, and initiatives
  • Act proactively to improve performance and strategically resolve issues by following projects through to completion, integrating them into an overall vision
  • Monitor and communicate regulatory changes to the organization, recommend necessary modifications for compliance, and provide technical support as needed
  • Ensure accident prevention and reduction through detailed injury and incident reports, loss analysis, trend identification, and compliant investigations
  • Collaborate with provincial authorities to resolve non-conformities or practice violations
  • Provide support to clients by ensuring subcontractor safety and conducting workplace risk assessments
  • Comply with Sysco's food safety policy and procedures to meet food safety, quality, and legality requirements
  • Understand the role's importance in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and recognize its value to the business
  • Commit to improving EHS performance by leading by example and holding the team accountable for programs, policies, and EHS requirements
  • Foster, promote, and adopt an inclusive culture
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned
