Candidates should possess a background in show production and experience with sound design, demonstrating a desire to tell complex and layered stories in the audio form. A successful applicant will have strong editorial skills and a commitment to upholding NPR’s ethical standards and legal obligations as outlined in the NPR Ethics Handbook.
The Editor III / Producer III will assist in brainstorming series and episode visions, often leading editing or producing individual series and overseeing production timelines, providing editorial guidance to shape stories and ensure quality. They will mentor ESU producers, participate in editorial planning, direct hosts during recordings, contribute to daily production tasks, create sound and structure for assigned series, write scripts under deadline, and assume responsibility for editorial integrity and quality of air product, as well as occasionally assist with the production of The Sunday Story from Up First episodes.
