Requirements

  • Current CDL or CDL permit required for entry into the training program
  • Ability to obtain a CDL (training program prepares candidates for the CDL examination)

Responsibilities

  • Complete CDL Training Program, including classroom study, on-route training, driving experience, and resource provision for the CDL exam
  • Complete 12 months of employment with Republic Services after obtaining a CDL
  • Perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections, ensuring proper functioning of safety equipment and controls; report any safety issues
  • Operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route, following route sheets and service customer requirements
  • Operate compactor and dispose of collected material at the designated facility
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to procedures
  • Continuously monitor the condition of assigned vehicles to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures
  • After obtaining a CDL, perform all responsibilities of a Driver in one of the Company’s lines of business (e.g., Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off)
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
