Requirements

Candidates should possess 10+ years of industry experience in designing, building, scaling, and supporting backend systems in production, with a strong understanding of software engineering practices like code reviews, quality focus, and documentation. Proficiency in a major programming language such as Java, Go, C/C++, or Python is required, along with deep curiosity in distributed and storage systems, a focus on project delivery and communication, and experience driving operational excellence for large production services. A strong sense of customer centricity, teamwork, technical leadership, and mentorship is also essential. Experience with large-scale, highly available systems, hands-on large-scale systems engineering or distributed systems, and on-call experience with critical systems are considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

The Senior Engineer will independently drive complex technical projects from start to finish, building mission-critical backend services that deliver customer value. This role involves architecting, designing, developing, and operationalizing high-performance, scalable, reliable, and resilient services. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and debugging technical issues within a complex stack involving microservices, containers, and virtualization, as well as ensuring operational readiness and meeting availability and performance SLAs. The engineer will work across the entire stack, from network-level bit manipulation to improving the developer experience of the UI, and will be on-call for the WarpStream platform.
