Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in software development, with a strong foundation in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and data platforms
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, with demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and growing talent
  • Expertise in at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, AWS RDS, Azure SQL
  • Proven track record of delivering scalable and reliable data platforms and services
  • Strategic engineering leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Inclusive and empowering technology leader with a history of building trust, tight partnerships, and enabling agile teams to solve technical problems in a product model

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage multiple engineering squads to deliver software in alignment with cross-functional and multi-year roadmaps and modern industry trends
  • Build a culture of trust and innovation, pushing teams to explore new and emerging technologies to deliver business value at scale
  • Enable continuous transformational changes to accelerate Nike’s technical maturity, experimentation, standards, best practices, and developer productivity, while inspiring a rich global engineering culture
  • Lead and manage multiple teams of software engineers responsible for building and maintaining scalable data platforms and services
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineering leaders to define and execute the technical roadmap
  • Design and implement cloud-native architectures that leverage the scalability and flexibility of major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, and cost-effective
  • Drive the architecture and development of SDKs, APIs, and microservices that enable seamless integration and interoperability across the enterprise, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and well-documented
  • Ensure all software solutions adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements, implementing robust security measures to protect data and systems from threats and vulnerabilities
  • Ensure teams follow best practices in software development, data governance, and platform observability
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence
  • Align engineering initiatives with broader organizational goals such as modernization, cloud cost optimization, and data governance
  • Report on team progress, challenges, and outcomes to senior leadership
  • Empower teams, remove barriers, and maintain a strong team culture
  • Partner closely with leadership, product managers, architects, principal engineers, and peers across Nike’s Global Technology teams and within the DAI team to manage priorities and drive alignment on technical decisions
